The 'Dear Diary's

A day in my Life during Quarantine ( + Healthy Morning Routine)

Let me Break it to you

When I was first introduced to the Covid-19 quarantine, I fell in love with the idea of being able to stay up all night and sleep all day (not that I wasn’t already doing that) without having to prepare myself for various upcoming preoccupations, such as waking up for school or meeting deadlines (at least for a while). However, after two-ish months (which felt like years, mind you), I grew absolutely sick and tired of the same, monotonous, completely unproductive routine because it was literally ‘eat, sleep, watch Netflix and repeat’ all week long. So, approximately a week-and-a-half ago, I decided that enough was enough, and it was about time that I fixed my routine and my life.

Importance

Now, everyone knows having a healthy routine is important and that it’s good for your health and that it helps you stay productive, blah, blah, blah… I mean, that’s not incorrect because it’s precisely the reason why I switched to such a routine but I’m here to talk about the importance of having said routine during the Covid-19 quarantine. Self-care is vital, especially when there’s more than a cup-full of negativity and paranoia being distributed around the world, for example the countless report of cases and deaths. Not only should you be checking up on your friends and family, but yourself too. I’m not saying that being lazy or having a ‘chill day’ is not taking care of yourself but when you don’t do anything (literally, anything) for weeks, save for lying around and eating, it takes a toll on you and just isn’t great for your mental health or your physical health. I think you get what I mean now, so let’s actually get to the routine.

The Routine

I don’t religiously follow this routine but I try to stick to it as much as I can. Sometimes, I swap activities around because I’m a human and I get bored (more than the average human but that’s not relevant) very easily of monotony, so this means that one day I may feel like making the bed before having breakfast or working-out after lunch instead of in the morning. I’m not crazy enough to follow this routine every single day because I’d give up on it the second I’d get a chance, so to allow myself a breather, I’ve reserved Sundays for whatever I want to do whenever I want to do. Welcome to a day in my life during quarantine.
